About Us

Our Story

Formed on September 19, 1872, Western Enterprise’s mission is to serve and protect the community with integrity, compassion, and dedication. By providing highly trained volunteer personnel, facilities, and equipment to support the local community, members strive to protect the lives and property of community citizens along with preserving order and public safety.

Why Join the Western Enterprise Fire Company #4?

Western Enterprise Fire Company is located at 526 Washington Avenue Hagerstown, Maryland in the heart of the West End community, conveniently located near downtown Hagerstown.

Comprised of highly trained firefighters and skilled and disciplined citizens, we strive to enhance our partnerships with communities locally, through the state and federal government.

Join to connect with fellow fire and rescue volunteers, collaborate with current members for fundraising, and guide future generations in community involvement.

As president, I am here to help serve the community and to support the men and women that put their lives on the line everyday, for each and every one of us.

My love for the west end of Hagerstown started at Washington Square with my brothers, riding bikes and talking to the firemen. A career as an Executive Chef with the Army, I joined Western Enterprise Fire Company to share my knowledge of feeding those who are hungry. In those nearly 30 years, I have served as Trustee for 3 terms, managed the maintenance and chaired numerous committees. I have been able to share my love for the community and fundraise to help those in need.

I have been a volunteer with several fire departments since 2018. In that time, I became a volunteer EMT. It is important to me to give back as much as I can to our community.

Auxiliary Chairperson

I have been President of Western Enterprise Fire Company Auxiliary since 2010. I have been volunteering many years prior to 2010. I love helping others and this is definitely a way I can give back to the community. The volunteer fire service is family oriented, and I am proud to be part of that family.

Trustee

I joined Western Enterprise #4 in 1964 because I wanted to help people and make a difference in my community. I was under 21, so had to get my parents to sign their approval. I worked up to Lieutenant then became Captain for 40 years.

I served as an active firefighter until 2008 but continue being active with the Company on the board side.

Based on a family tradition of serving the community, my personal need to be a part of the Fire and Rescue world finds home at Western Enterprise Volunteer Fire Company. For the past 7 years, fundraising for the community’s wellbeing is a need that I want to be a part of. Coaching Youth athletes for 20 years in Washington County has given me the opportunity to meet and develop relationships with a wide spread group of

talented individuals. Being a part of a dedicated Team in WEVFC#4, I am able to inspire and direct new growth as a chaplain in training.

The future is bright!
